    • But .. if the delay means a change on the combat system / making some bold things on it i'll fully welcome this decision and wait for it .

We can hope but tring not to be deluded. We will get pretty much the same game, updated of course at the release date and we will surely see some fixes here and there.
Even tho - I hope to be proven wrong - we won't see major/radical cahnges (well at least if those are not already programmed).

        • Fuck me... I should really be working atm! For the sake of it...

What you are saying about unethical practices is nothing to do with Blizzard or MMOs.

It has A LOT to do with it, I do not want to explain it (myself) cause it will take a lot of time, just read this (of course what is ethical and what is not is kind of subjective, burining jews was not only ethical but a duty to Hitler so... [edit]): Operant conditioning

People losing their jobs happens everywhere, that's the nature of capitalism. Doesn't make it alright or doesn't justify it, but it is what it is.

I'm not talking about capitalism here I'm talking about induced addiction and how people have lost jobs, or students droped-out from college due to mmos.

[...] I never liked the static combat of games such as L2 or GW. Not mentioning Ultima because I don't enjoy bird's view, isometric or whatever camera type it is I don't know the exact term. Same reason why I don't play Diablo-like games.

WoW had amazing interface, combat felt amazingly fluid, responsive and very tactical (you wouldn't know if you haven't played). And unlike Everquest, GW, Warhammer etc. the camera movement wasn't jerky and the UI was very nice and not immersion breaking like in L2. You feel lot more in control of your character in WoW.
But the lack of features like sieges, GvG, and more incentivized open world PvP was why I stopped playing.

Neither did I, games eveolve! You are prasing WoW only because it was more recent with more up to date features than older titles. I understand your point of view tho. I played FFXIV, tried TERA combat and couldn't go back playing FFXIV combat.

          And about that video.

Essentially all games are the same. They are all about filling and emptying various bars. Be it experience bar, strength bar, HP bars of your enemies etc. etc. You just press buttons to see bars go up or down. Just because a game has an overly complicated (not complex) way of going about doing so doesn't make it better. In MMOs we are all hamsters running in their wheels.

You misunderstood the Skinner Box Experiment, read this: Operant conditioning chamber

          Here a more explanatory video:

Or to be more specific, from those who identify themselves as players of classic MMOs.

I do not identify myself as "player of classic MMOs"... again just for the sake of it my favorite mmorpgs so far have been FFXIV and TERA and if it wasn't for GameForge perhaps I could have been still playing it. What I loved about classic mmos was the philosophy behind them.

It's often fuck WoW here fuck Blizzard there but no arguments. So please prove me wrong.

I think I have debated quite enough despite my lack of time.

I would have liked to write down the reference from all the books I read about those arguments, but it will take too much time to make a detailed bibliography so I hope you will be satisfied with Wikipedia links, if you want to deepen the subject just search the net.

AH! I'll suggest you to also read this, was posted in reddit by a guy called ksharp25, it will give a better insight on what I meant when I said WoW "ruined the mmoRPg industry" (with this I do not mean, of course, the profits it ruined the philosophy and the love towards ROLE PLAYING GAMES):

I hope those are enough arguments to satisfy you... now back to work. Take care!

            • Nice apologia, well written... Due to the fact that this is a follow up from me ranting on the shoutbox, I just want to say few thing in a more articulated way than just ranting on the shoutbox.

I really would have liked to talk about business ethics and many other things but I don't have time, sadly. And I think that even if I had time you would not understand my point of view from what you wrote:

Imagine you are a developer of this game that is the most played MMORPG and one of the most popular games of all times. You can’t allow it to die off. And they do clever things to keep WoW popular, like the aforementioned amazing cinematics released at the right time, also well timed patches and expansions. But how is that a bad thing, if you are a dev of competing game, you need to step your game up if you don’t wanna lose players to Blizzard.
              [...]
Just to touch on the last thing I mentioned, that WoW being what it is and so popular can also be a good thing. Well because competition is always good. And just notice how much attention every “non-wow” type game gets. It’s not hard to not be like WoW so we have plenty of opportunity and plenty of hungry gamers looking for that perfect MMO that is exactly not like WoW.

Those cinematics are just misleading advertising btw...

At the time MMOs were more of a niche genre enjoyed by only a fraction of gamers. Because they were needlessly complicated, too grindy and usually every aspect was pretty terrible. Yes the PvP might’ve been good but only if you were willing to sink too much time and effort into it.

They were not complicated they were COMPLEX. Really who are you to say this?

Blizzard answered the call of everyone with WoW. The RPers with amazingly crafted world with deep lore and great immersion, the grinders with relatively grindy but rewarding PvE and the PvPers with huge open world battles and some battlergrounds which were fun because it wasn’t such a commitment.

This is the main idea Blizzard used to make WoW:

A lot of far brighter people than myself wrote books, thesis, essays about mmo games, fabricated addictions and how it all "started" with WoW: people losing jobs, fucking up their lives. I'm not saying other mmos have not those systems (now) I'm saying that before develpers valued more the player, valued more the background of the player, valued more the world the player was in. Blizzard with WoW took it to the next level, an unethical one imho.
But really whatever everyone chose his own drug in the end.

                • Thanks for the insight, I follow steparu site/channel as well and now I see where are you coming from, consider tho that most of them have a biased opinoin due to the fact they basically are BDO "fanboys", even tho steparu himself is tring to be as objective as possible.

Sadly I have to admit I noticed as well that Bless has a lot of problems right now but it also have a lot of potential. What worry me the most is about how much money Neowiz is going to keep puting on Bless and for how long, after the small bubble in 2011/2012 they are not doing so well on the market (as many others).

I want to be positive... at least till I hear about massive layoffs. If they do not cut the workforce in Korea keep an open positive attitude!

                    • The matter is not to rush up... god, i don't want them to rush so much to make a trash game... but... at least, don't take so much time... Bless has been in developping for more than 10 years... isn't time to get it out of the hangar and let it fly?

Ye that's true but (you should know better than me :P ) there are still things left behind develoment-wise, from what I heard also instances need to be fixed.

                        • I really do not get all this haste. Is it so bad to wait and have (hopefully) a well polished game insted of rushing things?

once people has made their opinion of a game it's hard to change it.

If you rush and fuck up it is going to be hard to get back on your feet.

Guys you (maybe) do not follow the mmo market but the elephant in the room is (still) WoW.
Blizzard, with all the money they make, has always released content with the purpose of sabotaging upcoming titles. They lost quite few subcribers with WoD expansion now they
founded a movie studio to push their titles, they are facking tycoons!
The timing in this market is (almost) everything, I hope Aeria will release Bless after the hype for Legion has settled a bit and hopefully they won't fuck up with business model and P2W.

Great. But game has no future.

Saying that this game has no future without further argumentaions is just stupid and mean.

                            • As you said is too early but is good at least to start putting down the foundations. However when I play a game I love I always end up being an HC player. The problem is that usually HC guild tend to be elitist and not social at all.

In the past I managed my guild this way: I created 2 guilds with same TS3 server, one for more HC players with top-tier gear and at level cap, another for more causal players or in general new people that were still levelling.

Like that I didn't have to renounce neither to the social ascpect nor to being competitive.

                                • Those are good news, i'm glad to see that they won't rush the game like it's trend lately, it's better to lose some hype than to lose people to lack of content and features, once people has made their opinion of a game it's hard to change it.

I hope this gives neowiz enough time to provide a more completed version of the game to aeria for our NA/EU beta.

Arkray we really are on the same wawe-lenght!!

Btw I also hope that having more time will give us the possibility to voice our opinoins and get some changes we want and need.

Well there is no real hype about it ongoing at all. The game doesn't have that much attention.

I just hope the time gap will be enough to include the major features like Royal Quests, maybe Mystic (would be good for the game) and maybe the lvl 50 lvl cap raise

Imho I think that is better this way, people that are too hyped about a new mmo thend also to be deluded and when they actually play the game they will end up dissatisfied.

Better understimating a good game than overstimeting a bad one getting burned!

                                    • There is quite a few people from EU playing on korea already, i'm happy with the people that we have atm and would be nice to play together in EU too.

Well, I guess it was/is a bit too early to talk about EU guilds but we you guys should start thinking of porting the English Korean guild to the west.

I won't play in KR cause it will give me spoilers and a biased perspective of the game but if someone (cough... Arkray... cough...) who is playing in KR wish to ask other EU players that are playing there if they would like the idea to keep playing togheter in a guild here would be nice. I think...

                                        • A link, since geezer didn't include it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bless
Personally I never got into Reddit much, though I have had an account for at least a year I think. I subscribed for the heck of it.

                                          Sorry I forgot and thanks!

As reddit moderator, thank you very much for your support :D

You are welcome, we still need many more subscribers (right now 370/1000) to get the sub-reddit to be listed on the main MMORPG sub page, I do not know if it will make any difference but is worth giving it a try. Btw if you feel like make this a sticky thread.

Do we get Tshirts if we join?

No sorry, only cookies (self-baked ones, I can give you a really good recipe tho ^^[edit]) and much love :P

                                            • I read that article as well... as I said somewhere else Bless is an "inbetweener" for me not bad enough to just steer clear form it but neither interesting enough to make me want to play it 100%.
I'm wating to see how the western publisher do things here. Right now I'm 60-40 in favor of playing (mostly tho because the community here on Bless-Source is good). I'll make my final decision as soon as we know more from them and also as soon as we get news about the future develpoment of the game in Korea.

I think that the biggest strenght of Bless are the graphic and the lore. Imho during the semi-hiatus they took in 2015-2016 they should have swaped to the UE4 that was released in the same year, I heard that the game run more smothly than other games on UE3 (like TERA or B&S) but still has a lot of issues graphic-wise, no SLI/CrossFire support among other things.

The crafting system is evidently incomplete, the combat system is neither fish nor fowl they went for an hybrid system that many feel unconfortable with... dungeons are poorly made with bosses that kill you without you even noticing what happened (many are dropping dungeons all togheter).

They locked classes to some races most probably perhaps cause they do not have made the animations for those.

I have the feeling that this game is just incomplete, wonderful but incomplete... they are fucking up an amazing game to rush things up, probabily they wasted too many money, dunno... if I was the one in charge I would just say I'm sorry, take another year or so, and deliver a complete game.

Bless can really be one of the best mmos ever but if delivered as it is right now I fear is going to be another cash-grab, like all the other recent KR games, delivered incomplete with an exploitable cash shop that will last a couple of years and disapear...

                                                • I do not know what you think but for me there is more to the anime scene than the usual mainstream shōnen animes. Here a list that I'll edit step by step (every time a new gem come to my mind) about less known anime that are really good, some of them are actually masterpieces! I have selected them using story, background, theme, soudtrack, animation, characters' depth as parameters:

                                                  SOOTHE AND RELAX ZONE

                                                  Barakamon

                                                  Gin no Saji

                                                  Moyashimon

                                                  FANTASY and MMORPG RELATED

                                                  Hai to Gensou no Grimgar

                                                  Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu

                                                  FANTASY and NORSE FOLKLORE

                                                  Sanzoku no Musume Ronja

                                                  Hakumei to Mikochi (manga)

                                                  EPIC

                                                  Akatsuki no Yona

                                                  Arslan Senki (TV)

                                                  COMMEDY

                                                  Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou

                                                  Feel free to add more.

                                                    • Er ... isn't it in open beta in Korea?

Yes, thanks... edited and added the most recent video I could find about classes. From what I see only elv-ish races and beasts races (Pantera and Lupus) have some classes locked, expecially the latter have only 3 available classes while the elv-ish ones have only the Berserker locked (Warlock and Mystic seem to be locked for all classes during beta).

                                                        • Regarding that part: Unlikely native support. I don't have a 4k monitor to test with, but my monitor is 2560x1080 (part of LG's Ultrawide series) and the game doesn't go above 1920x1080 on the fullscreen list.

However, if you change it to Borderless Window mode and have it maximized, it DOES take up the exact desktop resolution and even adjust the FoV to suit it. In that regard I'm betting 4k does work with it, it's just not likely natively support/listed in the Fullscreen resolutions. If it can't list 2560x1080, I can't imagine it'd list 3840x2160.

I hope they will fix it. SLI do not work in windowed mode, at least that I know of. I do not want to have to chose between playing at a "low" fullscreen resolution with SLI or play at higher windowed resolution without SLI...

                                                            • About the multi-class system:

First - the only way to implement it would be like FF XVI or Skyforge - whenever you switch your weapon/class you will switch to the respective class/weapon (since the armor choice isn't class locked).
Any multi-class systems like ArcheAge where you mix different skill traits to one skill build isn't working here or more likely, you already have three sub-classes in 1 main class. Not really that the most skills are that much different from each core but some are sure very different depending on your active core skill.

I think I created a bit of confusion talking about multi-claasing and cross-classing; I just specified what are the differences for me and yes what I would like to see is a system like the one in FFXIV that is not easy to do but feasible.

Also for me - I'd like to stick with 1 main class at 1 character and make different characters for different roles but that's just me...

That's exactly my point with a multi-claasing system you give me the freedom to have on the same character more classes without taking away your possibility to make many character with each a different class.

EACH character does have 3 CLASS cores. Each core have his specify function.

Example, the PALADIN can be an Offensive Warrior, a Healer with some DD magic spells and a OffTank (Just remember to me that the main tank is the Guardian).

You can't have an Archer on the same character that is a Paladin or whatever the class is. The classes are unique for each character BUT each one does have 3 cores with different functions (Another example is the Archer, with the core Archer Full DD/Trapper/Speed Attacker with less DD)

Ok, nice to know tho. What I was referring is a system in wich you change your weapon and you change class.

Btw I usually solve this "problem" levelling at the same time 2 or more classes doing the very same stuff with each one and of course also making each character with the very same appearance... kind of grindy but the only good compromise I came up with XD
