You can find some objects while you travel that teleport you to resources instances and there you have 3 mins to gather resources, there are three caves and each one has specific resources for professions. I found around 5 of those objects while running around doing the main quest and they were all around a specific area.

Try to log from steam, i was getting disconnects when i was logging with Bless.exe and when i logged from steam it stopped.
