(Though I'm not the person you're directing this at) I am not a political topic. I am a person.
A group focusing on a controversial political topic would be guilds named: "Cosby is innocent" or "Republicans" or "Democrats" or "Build a Wall" or whatever else along those lines.
A guild focusing on being a safe and open space for sexual minorities is nothing like what you're describing. Is there anything wrong with having something like that? Absolutely not. Go for it. I think that's great.
However if it were something like "LGBT only", THEN we should all have a problem. Even I, a gay male, would shoot that down in an instant.
And there are minority and fan-specific guilds in every game. There are guilds with 90% Spanish speakers. Guilds with 100% BR players. There are guilds that clearly have mainly anime fans based on the name. There are guilds with mostly people from the same country and time zone. Guilds are formed for a whole variety of reasons. And MMORPGs are not separate from real life. They are reflections of real life with real people playing them. Real people with the same personalities and the same prejudices and same behaviors. What goes on in real life directly translates into ingame MMORPGs. If you're trying to truly escape real life, you have to play single player games.
In the end, this is all getting way out of control and this fighting is just plain idiotic.

Once you join a group in a GAME that focuses on an obviously controversial political topic, You get detractors. And then the non game focused guild gets offended and complains on the forum and reddit and call news outlets and make a huge deal(It has happened). And then we get stupid, unnecessary rules in a video game.
The fact that we don't think you should be making/joining guilds BASED on a NON GAME topic (like I've said MANY times already) Does not mean we hate you or your choices, it means we love our games and want to keep it kosher across the board.

Look I'm going to be blunt. No one cares if you're grey, purple, pink, half giraffe, or a dinosaur. People are people, get the heck over it. You want to play a game with other people? Do so. You shouldn't care whether people cater to your personal life, why would you bring that online anyway unless you were looking for attention? You shouldn't look for a guild focused on that kind of demographic simply because all you will do is bring more drama to the table where otherwise it isn't needed. This kind of situation is heavily political, and it shouldn't be brought so calmly into a gaming forum. Not just that, but why the heck would you be looking for a guild orienting around a certain kind of sexuality? That just sounds creepy and very predatory. I get you might try to find some kind of inclusion from this, but there is no inclusion to be had in the gaming community from this kind of thing. Find friends that don't care about that sort of thing, that group or otherwise, and play with them. Don't exclude or include based on such petty notions.

People in this thread are taking an issue with the fact that you are saying that "straights won't join an LGBT guild" and "gamers are homophobic", again which nobody has really shown any form of homophobia towards you, nor any of the other self proclaimed "gays" in this thread - some of which are arguing against you, even.

I would question joining and anime guild as well. Go join an anime group on facebook, watch an anime youtuber, or an IRL twitch person who talks about anime. Join guilds in a game to play that game. I never told you to join a random guild, but why make the requirement have to do with something outside the game? You're already joining like-minded people who are probably going to treat you normal anyway.

I have been a gamer for a very very very long time, and I've never once seen this homophobia you speak of. I've met so many lgbt gamers, and I still play with a lot of them on a near daily basis. This is one of the most accepting cultures known to man. I think what you're unconsciously talking about is people using derogatory terms when they rage in games, its literally just anger at sucking at a game...not homophobia (or whatever phobia you want to assume).

Let me give you an example, so maybe you'll understand what's fundamentally wrong with how you're thinking. We are in the same normal guild. People are having a good time, talking about random crap. Suddenly I say: "I'm straight" in guild chat. What would you reaction be? Would people start attacking me for being straight and not part of their sexual orientation community? No they wouldn't. People would either ignore it or say something like "nobody cares", "so what", or "and I like bratwurst". Now reverse the situation. Instead of me, you say: "I'm gay/lesbian/trans/bi.". What do you think my reaction would be? Would people start attacking you for being gay/lesbian/trans/bi and not part of their sexual orientation community? No they wouldn't. People would either ignore it or say something like "nobody cares", "so what", or "and I like bratwurst". The difference is, you would be obviously offended, since they don't accept you (at least in your eyes). That's exactly why you're looking for a LGBT guild, because you want to hear approval, right?

Joining a hardcore PvP guild shows your devotion to the PvP ladder and that side of the game, joining a hardcore progression guild shows your devotion to PvE content and drive to clear the hardest endgame content, potentially getting it down to a science, joining a casual or meme guild shows your appreciation of the game and your desire to be part of a community, but acknowledges that you just want to play the game and treat it as it is - a game. Naturally there are different guilds of the same type, launch is still about 20 days away (at least) and guild recruitment has already started and players are starting to find communities that they mesh with and are dedicated to. This leads to the question of "why should I join a particular guild".
Like most social questions, there is no true answer here, as it is ultimately up to the individual to decide what is best for them. Would I join an LGBT guild? Probably not, what about a meme guild? Still no. This isn't because I dislike memes nor the LGBT community, I am just happier in more diverse communities that are created by guilds that don't care about who you are. I don't mean this disrespectfully either, I simply mean guilds that advertise themselves using in-game terms and promote their in-game ideologies are simply more important to me than guilds which care more about who you are as a person; simply because these guilds naturally create diverse groups who are friendly to their guildmates even if it is on the sole grounds of being allies. While there are many people who are openly against the LGBT community, a lot of it is due to their perception of the community and many of these people are often willing to see and treat somebody as a decent human being if they prove themselves to be a decent human being.
Of course many people feel more comfortable when they identify themselves as part of a group and do things with people who are part of that group and go to places that accept these types of people and this actually causes more problems that it solves. If people keep only interacting with people they identify as being "in a group with" and only do things with these groupies problems like this will continue to exist. If people feel the community isn't friendly towards the LGBT community go out there and prove them wrong. Identify yourself as a person first, do things you like first, take care of yourself first and if your ideas and ideals align with that of a larger community or group great! Join, do your thing do their thing and have fun, but always remember to identify yourself as yourself before you identify as part of a group or organization. Taking Bless into example I'm not a member of the Iron Bank who plays a Paladin, I am somebody who plays the game as a Paladin, who is part of the Iron Bank. Always look at the bigger picture first (your humanity) then go down, this will help loads in life as your situation and 'group' you identify with or as part of may change with time. I'm not suggesting your sexual orientation will magically change overnight, in fact that can be an important part of your sense of self and self-identity, just don't explain your entire existence in regards to being part of the LGBT community.
Now I'm not trying to tell anybody how to live their lives or what they should be prioritizing in life. I am just trying to share some information that actually helped me when I was in the middle of a existential crisis last summer, I had no priorities, I had no idea who I was, I had no long term goals and was a mess. After some reflection I figured out this was partially because of a mix of unmanaged depression and me identifying as part of a group instead of as me. One not so quick change of perspective, a change in scenery, and a broadening of my horizons helped me understand that putting my identity first would help me make decisions down the line. I stopped thinking "is this something a computer nerd from a small town would do" and started thinking "is this something I would do" sometimes the answers were the same, sometimes they were different. Ultimately it is up to everybody to figure out what their priorities are and to find a guild, group, and path that is right for them. For some it may be an openly LGBT guild, for others it may be a guild that is open to all players, some may join meme guilds, and others may be known as the servers "trash pack" and thats all fine. Assuming the player is having fun and enjoying their time playing Bless we really have no reason to be critiquing their choice in guild or surroundings.
